The next time you pick up that cuppa and take a sip of a hot tea, not only are you relaxing your mind but giving yourself a chance to get smarter. While studies have been conducted on the brain benefits of foods rich in vitamin E and Omega 3 fatty acids, it's now said that tea can boost one's memory and focus too.
How it helps:
As per a report, tea that is either had freshly brewed (green or black) tea has some caffeine in it that can dilate a person's blood vessels and thus augment the blood flow to the brain. This in turn can enhance concentration and memory focus. Tea also has antioxidant properties and as it contains catechins. In fact, a study has pointed out that tea has L-theanine, an amino acid and caffeine which when taken together can boost an individual's performance in cognitive tasks. Researchers have also said that drinking green tea can reduce risk of dementia.
Green tea brewing tips:
- Boil water until steam rises from it.
- Let the tea leaves steep in it for just two or three minutes.
- Usually the tea tastes best when brewed at temperatures between 140°F - 185°F.
