Hair care tips: Home remedies for grey hair


Mostly associated with ageing, grey hair can be a natural process and can occur at any age.

Medically speaking, everybody has malenocyte in skin and hair, and when these malenocyte are not produced, a person tends to face whitish grey hair. If you are not yet ready for the silver-fox hair look and are looking for inexpensive, non-time consuming hair remedies for grey hair, then you have reached the right place. Today, we will take you through the top home remedies of grey hair, which will help your body in increasing the production of melanin.

Beef up the protein. Protein rich foods, such as lean meat, soy, whole grains, eggs, and cereals not only help you in maintaining long strands of healthy black hair, but they also give your hair a natural shine and smooth texture. Make sure to include health doses of meat, cereals, soy and whole grains in your diet.

Eat foods that are rich in vitamins, minerals and iron. Food items, such as green leafy vegetables, tomatoes, bananas and cauliflower will help in preventing and treating premature greying of hair. It can show wonderful results for healthy hair growth as well.

Indian gooseberry or amla. Amla is an excellent remedy for grey hair when mixed in coconut oil and applied to your scalp on a regular basis. Best would be to boil some dried amla pieces in coconut oil and let it stand overnight. Apply this oil to your hair for speedy treatment of grey hair. If you want you can grate some ginger and honey in this mixture too.

The black tea remedy for grey hair. Make one cup of black tea without adding milk to it and add one tablespoon of salt to this mixture. Now massage the lukewarm tea on your head, making sure that your hair roots are nicely nourished. Let the mixture stay on your hair for at least half an hour, before washing your hair thoroughly with a good quality shampoo. 

Henna powder can come to your rescue. Make a paste with henna powder, yogurt, methi seeds, coffee, basil juice and mint juice and boil it nicely. Let the mixture stand overnight before you apply it on your hair. Wash your hair with shampoo in about 3 hours for natural black hair colour.

Dried sage for premature greying of your hair. Boil some water and add 4 tablespoons of dried sage. Let the mixture stand for 2 hours and drain it further. Now add a few drops of glycerine power to the mixture, which will provide your hair with nourishing Vitamin E. Mix well and massage on your scalp for natural shine and long, healthy black strands.

Massage your scalp with coconut oil. Boil one cup of coconut oil. Add hibiscus leaves, almond oil and methi powder to the mixture. Cool and strain and keep it in a glass jar to apply at least 3-4 times in a week.
