Chanakya on Lust..
There is no disease so
destructive as lust. There is no disease so destructive as lust. Chanakya
described lust as the biggest barrier in a man's growth. Lusty individual would
never be able to concentrate of other requisites of life. However, Chanakya was
not against sex.
Chanakya on Death..
The life, action, wealth,
learning and death of a person are determined by God when he is in the womb.
Chanakya on Friendship..
He who has wealth has
friends.
Chanakya on Self Improvement..
Before you start some work,
always ask yourself three questions : 1. Why am I doing it. 2. What the results
might be and 3. Will I be successful. Only when you think deeply and find
satisfactory answers to these questions, go ahead.
Chanakya on Family..
He who is overly attached to
his family members experiences fear and sorrow, for the root of all grief is
attachment. Thus one should discard attachment to be happy.
Chanakya on Kingdom..
If the king is pious, the
subjects become so; but if the king is vicious, the subjects become the same.
If he be indifferent to both (virtue and vice), then they too bear the same
character. In short, as is the king so are his subjects.
Chanakya on Failures...
Once you start a working on
something, don't be afraid of failure and don't abandon it. People who work
sincerely are the happiest."
Chanakya on Education...
Education is the best
friend. An educated person is respected everywhere. Education beats the beauty
and the youth.
Chanakya on Good Person...
The fragrance of flowers
spreads only in the direction of the wind. But the goodness of a person spreads
in all directions.
Chanakya on Parenting...
For five years one’s son
should be pampered, the next ten years he should be beaten (meaning he must be
disciplined) and once he turns sixteen he should be treated as a friend.
Chanakya on Dharma...
For one in an alien land
learning is friend, for one staying at home mother is friend , for one
suffering from illness medicine is friend and for the departed souls dharma is
friend.
Chanakya on Kids...
What is the purpose of
having a son who is neither learned nor devoted to God? It is useless to have a
blind eye which will only result in eye-ache.
Chanakya on Generations...
Even as a single good tree
with fragrant flowers can spread the fragrance in the entire forest, so also
the entire family (or clan) shines by a son possessing good qualities.
Chanakya on Scholars...
Scholarship and kingship can
never be equated. A king is respected in his own kingdom whereas a scholar is
respected everywhere.
Chanakya on Fool men...
A wise man has all qualities
in him, a fool has only faults. Therefore a single wise person is better than a
thousand fools.
