Fall In Love If You Want To Succeed In Life : Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

Love purifies you!

Love is the finest of all emotions; it is also the most powerful. You can easily hide your thoughts; feelings, however, are more difficult to hide. When you look at a person’s eyes, you can make out his feelings. It is not the same with thoughts. If someone is scheming or conspiring, you won’t be able to make that out. But love can neither be fully hidden nor expressed. The more you try to hide it, the more apparent it becomes. Love expresses itself in so many ways. You don’t have to tell anybody you love him: your walk, your talk, your look will all convey that love.

Love oozes out of your very presence.

Magnetic impact
One who has attained the fullness of love, his throat chokes, and joy manifests itself in all his actions. He is unable to speak properly because love cannot be expressed in words. Love has a magnetic impact on everybody around. If you have attained fullness of love, everyone will feel secure in your company, in your presence. Whoever comes close to you, will all feel at home, comfortable, like coming to a mother.

Cleansing power
Your love has the power to purify everything around you. Narada, in his aphorism of love, says, “Panthavarodha romanchashrubhih parasparam lapramanah pavayanti kulani prithvim cha”. The tears of love purify families, traditions, towns and villages; they purify this earth. Even places where some lover spent his life longing for God become pilgrimage centres.

Sheer joy
“Modante pitaro nrityanti devtah, sanatha cheyam bhurbhavanti”. One who is filled with love, who sheds tears of gratitude, his very presence is enjoyed by those who have crossed over. When your life is blossoming in love, it brings great comfort, great relief and joy. The power of love transcends worlds. When you meditate, or engage in any spiritual practice, a portion of the merit goes to your ancestors. It is like clearing a debt, giving, or sharing good things that you have. In all religions, when someone departs, there is a memorial service. You pray for the departed soul: your prayer, your love, touches the other world. So when you meditate, remember, you are not meditating just for yourself but for this world as well as the unseen world. When a devotee who is full of love for God engages in any action, that action gains value and it becomes the best action.

There are two kinds of people: those who are valued because of the things they possess, and those who add value to things. Prophet Mohammed wore a pair of simple shoes and that became valuable. M K Gandhi used just an ordinary staff, but it has acquired value because he used it. Likewise, what one says is not as important as the stature of the person saying it. Even a scolding from a wise person is valued, while praise from a foolish person is of no relevance. Words and actions become valuable because of the one who speaks them or performs them.

Sacred words
A scholar or a theologian can write a scripture. A philosopher, an intellectual, can write a book, but it remains at the most an intellectual exercise. On the contrary, just four lines from a Chaitanya Mahaprabhu can touch a person’s heart and bring about a transformation. That’s why Jesus said, “I have come to fulfill the scriptures”. When the love that you are is kindled, life itself becomes a scripture, a sacred book. Make your life the Gita, Quran or Bible. The key to achieving this is divine love! Become a devotee who is full of the Divine, lost in Divinity.
